Nothing New
Just cause I know you are addicted to blogs.

I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that it's raining here in the PNW. Sadly, it's sapping my already low motivation to ride my bike. This is the 1st Memorial Weekend I haven't spent at Round and Round's 24 Hour race. In fact it's the first year since 2002 I haven't done a 24 Hour race at all. I had planned to do Nationals but honestly just don't care. It was fun while I was getting back into riding/racing but road was always my first love.
Murdin is brilliant. He rolled off the front of the break with maybe 1K to go last night and held on for the win. It was a good move, taking advantage of what was full-on poker mode in the break and a bit of inexperience.
Yes they do. AmexSux.com tells the story better than I do. All I can add is that over the 5-6 month period we had an AmEx card they displayed an amazing inability to provide even a moderate level of knowledgible support, an inability to fix problems they created and a strong desire to focus on blame rather than solutions.
As I transition from racing to working I was looking forward to the weekend in CA. We'll be doing the UVAS triathlon vendor expo and I was expecting a nice little event. Got in just in time for the rain to start. Great. Nothing sells eyewear like rain.
Well, part 1 of the season is in the books for me. It began with the bizarre RV trip to Valley of the Sun and ended with a DNF in the Malaga Road Race stage of the State Omnium.
Just wanted to let anyone who was in a break with me at PR know that I wasn't trying to yell at you. I just recognize that the field is faster this year meaning there is no time to screw around. I also realize that most guys are not experienced riding in the break. So far, guys have been willing to work. But a lot of guys are either going through too hard *or* trying to go through and then pulling off from 2nd wheel.
If he felt like I did he'd tell the following joke:
Well, both State Road Races are in the books and I have pretty mixed personal feelings. I was hoping for more out of the senior race. The course is good for me and our team. The climb is hard, but not decisive in my opinion. The real selection is the farm road near at the bottom of the descent. It usually has a nice cross wind, is windy and narrow and strings things out. It usually weeds things out.
I am looking at my calendar and man will I have one busy summer. Yet as I sit here blogging while mini-me eats his oatmeal I can't help but just feel pretty damn chill. The calm before the storm perhaps but calm nonetheless.
