Sickly Bloggin'

I look into PruDaughter's eyes and ask "why do you like giving me colds so much?"
She responds "cause it is funny to watch you cough and wheeze"
"But I can't blog when I am sick" I retort
"Ha!" she says.

Weekly Eyewear Edumacation

It has been suggested that I post some kind of eyewear edumacation post once a week. Seems like a good idea.

This weeks edumacation: Watch out for tricksy marketing. Without naming names (and you know whow you are) it's not uncommon for companies to use a common technology, refer to it by a trademarked name, and then state that no one uses that trademarked name often implying the untrue statement that no one else uses the underlying technology.

For example, we use the term "ReActive" (tm) to refer to our photochromatic lenses. While it is true that no one can legally use the term "ReActive" to refer to their lenses, it would not be true if we said that no one else uses Photochromic technology. To get around this, we might say something like:

"We now have photochromic lenses. We call them ReActive. No one else uses ReActive lenses".

While each statement is true individually, taken in context they imply something that is not true.

So this weeks edumacation is to be wary of marketing sophistry supposedly touting exclusive technology that is really just an exclusive trademarked term.

Strategery at The Strangelove Crit.

I have a prediction for the rapidly approaching Strangeloving Washington Cup Victory March. Jamie won't sweep the top 3 podium spots. He'll simply line up, refuse to race and just sit on the start finish line yelling at Tubbs and Campbell: "Hey, you may be 10 laps up on me but I'm really 1 million points ahead of you. Muhahahahahahahahaha!"

As for links. Well I suck, that's why they ain't updated.

PDog's 08 Tour Predictions

Who is going to win the 2008 tour? That seems like an odd question since we still don't know who won the '07 tour. Usually I wait until the prologue for my prediction. I've noticed the winner usually finishes top 10.

That would seemingly bode well for Kloden, Hincapie and Vinokourov.

But the wild card this year, in my mind, is who the UCI/WADA/Tour will accept as a winner. My conclusion (arrived at long ago) is that it doesn't matter to the Tour or WADA if you doped to win the tour. If they know you have doped to win races in the past they will find a way to pop you. That seems to rule out any Astana or Discovery rider. Now I am not saying that the riders for those teams have or have not doped. But it seems pretty clear the the UCI, WADA and ASO think they have which is what really matters.

So forget any Astana or Discovery rider.

Cancellara? Not a great climber and rides for CSC, the new darling of the UCI but mortal enemies of ASO thanks to the Riis factor. Plus Jakshe's accusations can't help.

Dekker? Works with Ferrari so forget him.

Bradley Wiggins has been outspokenly supportive of WADA and ASO critical of the UCI and rides on a French team. So go Wiggins. Enjoy the yellow.

1 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Team CSC 8.50 (53.7 km/h)
2 Andreas Klöden (Ger) Astana 0.13
3 George Hincapie (USA) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 0.23
4 Bradley Wiggins (GBr) Cofidis - Le Crédit par Téléphone
5 Vladimir Gusev (Rus) Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team 0.25
6 Vladimir Karpets (Rus) Caisse d'Epargne 0.26
7 Alexandre Vinokourov (Kaz) Astana 0.30
8 Thomas Dekker (Ned) Rabobank 0.31
9 Manuel Quinziato (Ita) Liquigas 0.32
10 Benoît Vaugrenard (Fra) Française des Jeux

Before there was Robot Chicken

there was Troops.

Congrats to the Stache

Sure, it was no mountain stage like the PR I won, but I'll give you props for beating 2 dudes. Of course let's not forget I won the infamous PR that only 1 other guy showed to like 3 or 4 years ago so I got you there too frankly.

Congrats

I heard AJ finally won a cat 1/2 race. Good job AJ!
Been enjoying CA. It's hot (I've got the sunburn to prove it). And hilly. And windy. No one told me about that. Rode with SF Sport & Spine and found them to be good guys even if they did destroy me on the climb of Mt Tam. And then kick me while I was down. and then stole my mocha.
