Howard's the problem

A good article about unionization at SBUX. This graf hits the core problem at Starbucks:

But Fellner also said Schultz's pro-partner mantra comes across as benevolently paternalistic.

"It's a problem because it means that whoever runs the company believes they know what's better for their workers than their workers," she said.


I'll be more blunt. During the time I was at Starbucks Howard never listened to what any of us said and clearly believed he was benevolently omnicient about everything and has his entire ego based on that. To the extent things rocked at the Bux I suspect it had more to do with Orin, David, et al than Howard. So when ever anyone, like say a union or reality, challenges his awesomeness he takes it very poorly.
