Odd Question
So, how many of you have been in the military? And of those who have, how many would consider themselves combat experienced? The reason I ask is somewhat related to my Self Control post. Whenever I say something like "I've been trained to fight" people snicker. Now from my background, that seems odd. It isn't a boast: everyone in the army was trained. Some sucked and some weren't trained well. But everyone I know was trained in hand to hand. I am also trained to shoot a gun and to run around in those stupid HAZMAT suits. Oh did that suck. And then yesterday I heard a report that only 4.5% of the population under 45 or something like that had been in the military. That blew me away. I just always assumed most people had been in.

No military background for me; never liked the haircut.
But I am proud of the self control you showed - though you (and I) have got to learn a little more restraint from the irresistible urge for smart aleck jabs that we sometimes throw at the dim-wits in idiot America. We must consider before we take actions that may enlist short term gratification; that in doing so, we have sunk to their level.
Heal, boy, heal - here's a ClifBlok - good Prudog, sit!
Older than old as dirt
Chad Brothers served for a number of years (5+?). He's only like 5'9" and I'm pretty sure he could kick my ass too. Not because of his combat training, but because he can grow a pretty sweet mustache.
i want to make it clear that I am not a kicker of ass. i was real good at cleaning an M16 and that was about it. but it does strike me that most people mental image of a fight is somewhat like the scene at the beginning of team america. and they always told us to leave the guy with the stache alone. stache = stone cold killer.
clifblok???? were???
oh yah, and Tubbs. Don't f* w/ Tubbs. There's a reason he can't go to 13 or the 50 States anymore.
I was in the Irish Army, never got to drive the tank, though,I hear they have a plane now too!!
I was the spawn of a military family; never been in the armed services myself. I did, however, belong to a para-military organization where I earned several merit badges, learned how to shoot rifles and was trained to properly handle a knife. So, you could say that the Crow bristles with potentially dangerous skillz.
plus, you are unbalanced.
What are you trying to call me out there P?
Fortunately those states are the flat boring ones in the midwest! ;-)
I applaud your self restraint too.
haven't you figured out this blogs motto is "drag as many innocents into the mud as possible"?
