That's not a sale!

Apparently the post-Christmas sales have been less than impressive. Where's that deflationairy spiral I've been counting on? So far I've mostly seen stores like target raise prices by $1, then cut .50 cents and call it a sale rather than a 50 cent price increase. I don't think people are that stupid.
