I am touched.
I told 'em to expect 50 or 60 people. :)
I am not sure if Stoked is joking or not. But if more than 5 people show up to tonight's party I may just completely freak out.
Intellectually I know that I belong to a largish subculture and that, in a weird way, anyone who makes Cat 2 and/or is part of the community enjoys a sort of pseudo-celebrity. I know that even if we don't talk to each other all the time, we all go to the crazy events called bike races every week and hang out together. I know that we are also hooked up via The Intertrons. And I know that Cat 5s look up to cat 1 & 2s. I know that and all the other reasons why so many people know me (just as I know so many people).
But honestly, I've been part of this community for so long that none of that seems extraordinary to me anymore. It is all very... well I don't really think about it or realize how many people's live's touch mine.
Anyway that's all a long winded way of saying that I am touched that so many people think I am worthy of saying good bye to. I appreciate all the emails, phone calls and even snarky blog posts.

But, see, you know it's a community. Too many people in it can't see past their team or their category. They go to races like they were going to the movies--little interaction with anybody else. You are equally happy targeting a fred or cat 1s--no matter whether you're dispensing (relatively) kind words, cynicism, or generosity. You are one of the connectors in our community that helps keeps us a community instead of fragmented bunches of introverts.
P.S. I know at least 4 people will be there.
I only talk to my team. The rest of you are the enemy so I'm not coming tonight Pru.
(actually - I'm not coming because my wife said I couldn't get a hall pass)
Bring your wife. Or at least bring Molly.
I thought the party was in Maui - I'm here and you're not. Hope you had a good sendoff, and look forward to get a chuckle out of you one of these days on a Bay area layover riding with you on my clown bike.
I went last night for the beer. Stoked said it was free and now she owes me $12.
The Mac and Cheese was the bizzity bomb.
In all seriousness Pru, good luck with everything down south, we'll miss you up here. Come back and have some pie soon.
Snark!
We're going to miss ya. Greenlake was a bridge too far last night to ride, I did ask a couple of drivers if they felt like going, though!
All the best.
How was the Pie...did it last more than 15 mins? Anyone else get some?
Wait?!? There was pie at Prudog's goodbye party? I didn't see any pie! Then again I was "fashionably" late and I know how Prudog likes pie so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. LOL! ;-)
